Founder's Story

A Personal Story From the Founder

Many years ago, I was a star employee. My company invested heavily in my development. I went through leadership programs, worked with a career coach, and sat through countless conversations, workshops, and self-assessments.

I understood myself better than I ever had. But I still didn't change how I communicated or led.

Looking back, I realized what was missing. Self-awareness is not the same as behavioral change. I understood what I needed to do, but I didn't have the guidance, practice, or training to actually do it differently.

And that is the challenge with much of traditional training. It can be thoughtful, useful, and even inspiring — but often it is comfortable and low-stakes. We talk about leadership. We discuss what we should do. We leave with new insights.

But insight without practice rarely becomes behavior. And behavior doesn't change without practice under pressure.

Then, almost by accident, I found myself in the theater business.

I remember a young actress — soft-spoken, almost invisible offstage. She didn't believe she could play a commanding executive. But on stage, with a role to inhabit, direction to follow, and an audience watching, something changed.

She didn't just learn to be more confident. She practiced being someone different — and became her.

That was when I realized:

Leadership presence isn't something you're simply born with. It can be practiced. It can be built.

I also noticed the people dressed in black — the stage crew. They arrived first and left last, invisible by design. They take no bow. And yet, no show runs without them. Everything depends on them.

The most powerful leader in the room is often the one you never notice — because they are too busy making everyone else shine.

I wish I had experienced this kind of training earlier.

That is why we created The STAGE Method™: to turn insight into behavior through experience, practice, pressure, reflection, and performance.

Curious what that looks like for your team?
